Identify Clear Value from the Partnership: What is the reason for the partnership? Does collaboration speed up the progress of problem solving?

Identify and Recruit Prospective Partners: Determine the supply of potential partners. Prioritize the individuals and organizations that can help you.

Work Backward from Goals: Work backward from what you want to accomplish, identifying tangible goals. Then generate a to-do list that propels the project forward.

Articulate the Mission: Define with partners a common set of goals, vision of success, and objectives. Given people’s potentially diverse reasons to participate, recognize that partners can measure success differently, depending on who they are.
